The beautiful tapestry of parenthood of a bilingual child
When you really want something you have to do something that you have never done!
I still remembered when I was learning English. I don't even remember how many first level English classes do I have to take when I was a little girl. Where I was living they don’t have a lot of options and I got frustrated because every time that I wanted to start learning English I had to start over learning the basics again and again. It took me years and I had to push myself, be patient and persistent because I really wanted to be able to understand and talk in any opportunity that I will have. Why I decided to teach my little boy? Everything started when I had the privilege to worked in an Elementary School where I saw all the little kids struggling to lean English when they should be playing with their friends. I saw different situations and behaviors that I wish it will be easier for them after all childhood memories are a treasure and a blessing for everyone. That is why I decided to take this opportunity to teach my little boy this wonderful adventure that I would like to share and encourage you as well.Today I had a marvelous experience he was telling me that he needs his hat is Spanish because we’re going out and I didn’t understand him. I asked him again looking to his face and I was down on his level and a few seconds later he just switched and told me hat in English and I got it! I was so excited because since he has been learning both languages it has been easier to him to communicate with us and I love it. When he started to say his first words he was using the shorter words in English because it was easier for him even when I was talking in Spanish to him and I will be talking more about that later. I would love to show you how we are growing together and learning how been bilingual is one of the most powerful experiences that I have ever had in my life and now see it on my little one is even better!
